The modular technology software provides the user with all the functions required for the injection molding process. All of the software blocks will run on the CPU 614 and the FM 356-4 application module.

Their use is optional, i.e. any or all of the prepared functions can be used as required. User-programmed blocks can also be added.

Input management
Input management is used for position calibration and positioning for any number of analog position channels. This requires:

  • Simple scaling or scaling with offset and reference point (including reference point approach)
  • Integrated wire-break monitoring.

Velocity filters
The block for velocity computation has two velocity filters:

  • With gate width measurement
  • With variable gate width.

Speed measurement
To input and control of the screw speed during the proportioning phase, the speed can be determined by:

  • Frequency measurement
  • Gate width measurement.

Output management
This offers you an integrated and fully automated linearization for hydraulic valves with nonlinear characteristics and with:

  • Scaling
  • Actuating signal output via time ramps
  • Various valve characteristics
  • Direct output of manipulated variable.

Cam controller
A cam controller has 64 tracks and provides integrated cam-dependent manipulated variable output.

Profile processing
Specification of profiles as a function of position and time with up to 10 profile points; this can be extended to any number of profile points.

Optimization
Controller self-optimization and the adaptation of initial actuating signals for phase transition are possible.

Quality control
Automatic quality control monitoring and automatic reject detection are achieved by way of master characteristics and quality criteria for injection speed, cavity pressure, packing pressure, back pressure or screw speed.

The quality control block offers the following functions for this purpose:

  • Cyclic process data acquisition via all analog inputs
  • Maximum value determination
  • Integral computation with integrated tolerance monitoring
  • Quality index calculation with integrated tolerance monitoring
  • Cushion monitoring and fully automatic cushion length correction.

Curve recording
User-configurable curve recording for:

  • Standard curves and triggerable curves; for setpoint curves, actual value curves, and master curves with integrated tolerance monitoring
  • Trend curves with integrated tolerance monitoring.

Closed-loop control
The closed-loop control modules contain standard PID controllers, travel and position controllers for control of the filling and proportioning processes over multistage profiles, and control of the mold closing movement and the mold opening movement for:

  • Injection speed
  • Cavity pressure
  • Packing pressure
  • Back pressure.

Transition logic
For the transition from the injection to the packing phase, several transition criteria are possible; independent logic optimizes the transition at the right instant. This transition logic offers:

  • Adaptive transition from injection to packing by process supervisor
  • Priority selection logic for the transition behavior during the filling phase
  • Acquisition of important process data at the transition point
  • User-configurable fault diagnostics.

Variable pump splitting
The variable pump splitting function allows you to switch several pumps for up to 16 pump stages.

The basic blocks described above are connected to the organization blocks:

  • I/O management
  • Technology switching function
  • Phases injection side
  • Phases mold side

Temperature control
Temperature control is carried out with the blocks TEMP and HTEMP.

Electric worm drive

The maintenance-free three-phase AC SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES is of low-noise design and provides fast, accurate worm drive speed control. compared with a hydraulic drive, the power consumption ca be reduced by up to 25 %. Synchronizing of the dosing operation with the machine movements allows the cycle time to be reduced by about 20 %. To obtain more gentle and improved processing of the material, it is even possible to extend the dosing time by reducing the cycle time.
